Imagine you and your friends and family are gathered around the dinner table for the holidays. What will make your holiday feast truly memorable?
People say that the way to a man’s (or a woman’s!) heart is through their stomach, and it’s true: you can feel the love that someone puts into food. No matter how good you are as a cook, your love is what makes your cooking great.
So, what do you do if you’re not feeling confident in your cooking? Heal your relationship with food.
Two Twin Flames Universe community members, Destinee and Tamara, have been doing just that with Divine Dish, an emotionally sensitive food system, and Divine Glow, a group coaching class for mastering fitness, cooking, and your routine. You can create a joyful and healthy relationship with food and share that with your family for the holidays.
Here’s how they did it!
Feeling Good About Your Food
If you want to enjoy your cooking, the first step is having a healthy relationship with food. Destinee and Tamara’s stories will show you that anything that’s making cooking or eating challenging for you can be overcome with the right level of love and support.
Destinee had seen her friends having breakthroughs with food and cooking through Divine Dish & Divine Glow, so she felt safe enough to face her challenge and try something new.
Destinee wanted to feel free in her relationship with food. She had lactose intolerance for a long time and she wanted to overcome it and enjoy all of her favorite dairy foods, so she started going to Divine Glow group coaching classes. With the support of Divine Dish’s CEO, Jason Emerick, and fellow people in the class, she learned that she should try slowly adding dairy to her diet and working through her feelings about food.
Divine Dish was created to give people a diet that’s loving, focusing on feeding the soul first and then the emotional body and the physical body. It’s a menu that takes care of all of your food needs, even emotionally, rather than being a restrictive or imbalanced diet. “I feel this is what helped me to heal the most in my relationship with my food,” said Destinee. The balance of the menu, both in its nutrition and in how it nourishes her heart, made her feel safe to try new things.
She dove into cooking and realized, “I no longer had terrible reactions to dairy anymore.” In Divine Glow group coaching classes and in her daily life, she gave herself comfort and reassurance within herself whenever she felt bad about her food.
Through this process, Destinee realized that food is safe and that it’s just another way to love yourself. Now she can enjoy dairy without worrying about how it could affect her body. “I feel very empowered to have completely transformed my relationship with dairy,” said Destinee. “I am no longer afraid of what I eat, or tiptoe around it. I know that I am fully being loved and nourished by God.”
Feeling good about cooking and eating (and about yourself and your body) gives your body permission to digest and receive your food. It’s scientifically proven that when you feel good while eating, your digestion and absorption is greatly increased, no matter what you’re eating.
Destinee realized, “My body has always been perfect, it was never broken. I went all-in with [facing] my fear here and realized there was actually nothing to fear at all. I found so much profound love for myself in my relationship with food that I have never experienced before.” This helped her make peace with herself and with her diet.
A win for the whole family
Tamara has also learned to love herself more through Divine Dish and Divine Glow, but her biggest area of healing has been in cooking and providing for her family. Earlier this year, she started to feel like cooking was “a real chore,” just like so many people do. How you witnessed the adults around you relating to food growing up can affect how you feel about cooking and your food as an adult.
“I lost all interest and had fallen into a pattern of making a rotation of the same few dishes and none of us looked forward to mealtimes. I had also developed a lot of bad habits where I would frequently skip meals and eat on the go. I rarely sat down to enjoy my meals and we seemed to quickly rush through family dinners,” said Tamara.
She had seen people’s successes in the Divine Glow Open Forum on Facebook, so Tamara was ready to give it a try. Once she started, she noticed the change right away.
“Something magical happened when I prepared my first dinner, the ‘Marry Me’ Pasta,” said Tamara. “Not only was the food delicious but I experienced real joy at dinner. I learned that eating is first spiritual, then emotional and lastly physical.” The menu brought back a spark into her heart and brought back her love for food and cooking, so she kept on cooking.
“Each night, I prepared a different dish,” said Tamara. “My kids look forward to getting home from school and seeing what is for dinner. We started sitting at the table and having real conversations while we enjoyed our meal time.”
Now, checking next week’s menu from Divine Dish feels like “going to the mailbox and finding a special package” to Tamara and her daughter. She, her daughter, and her son love cooking together now.
Tamara said the family’s favorite night is pizza night. “We make homemade dough together,” she said. “As the dough is rising, we put on music and have a dance party in the kitchen. The kids rave about the pizza and say it is better than any other pizza they have ever had.” What a statement! In Tamara’s household, takeout is history.
Tamara faced her feelings, embraced cooking, and made her relationship with food joyful, fast. Her story shows that cooking can be transformed from an annoying daily chore to a highlight of your day.
