We see romance and love depicted in pop culture all the time. It shows up in movies, TV Shows, celebrity couples, even sports! Lately these depictions have taken a more Twin Flame flavor, however.

Twin Flames are not just any romantic couple, they are the epitome of Love itself. Twin Flames are two people literally made for each other and are meant to spend their lifetimes growing together.

They are each other’s perfect lover, partner, best friend, teacher, and student. It’s the fairy tale idea of true love, only it’s very real. In this blog, I’d like to explore a few favorite Twin Flame sightings in pop culture.

Are there Twin Flames in Bridgerton?

The fantasy Regency- era tv series based on the books by Julia Quinn follows the Bridgerton family of eight siblings as they navigate London high society in search of love. Most marriages in the early 1800s are societal or business arrangements, but the Bridgertons stand out in their formal courtships, holding out for “love matches,” or really, their Twin Flames.

Do they succeed? You could argue that each sibling does indeed succeed, and just like any Twin Flame journey, each Bridgerton has to undergo a revealing process to find their true love. (Hint: The truer to themselves they are, the easier they find it to be with their Twin. Penelope and Colin’s story is a perfect example of this!)

Unlike soulmate connections, where the couple stays together just long enough to work through some soul lessons, Twin Flames are meant to be together, harmonizing and growing with each other for eternity. In the series, it seems pretty clear that Anthony is meant for Kate, not her sister, for instance! You’ll have to watch for yourself, but I’d give a resounding YES to Twin Flames in Bridgerton.

Twin Flames in Pop culture

Bridgerton isn’t the only place we find Twin Flames. Literature throughout the ages is full of them. Some of the most famous romance stories that actually include Twin Flames are:

  • Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre (Jane and Mr. Rochester)
  • Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights (Heathcliff and Cathy)
  • Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet (Romeo and Juliet)
  • Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing (Beatrice and Benedict)
  • Shakespeare’s As You Like It (Orlando and Rosalind)
  • Jane Austen Pride and Prejudice (Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy)
  • Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility (Elinor Dashwood and Edward Ferrars)

There are countless movies depicting Twin Flames as well. The Notebook , Sleepless in Seattle, and The Princess Bride are classic Twin Flame movies, for instance. All the Disney films depicting true love are Twin Flame movies, and recently, Past Lives and Everything Everywhere All At Once are also excellent Twin Flame films.

Love in the Olympic Games 2024

From the opening ceremonies to the beautiful stories throughout the games, true love was in the air at the Summer Olympics, too. Was it Twin Flame love? Maybe, maybe not, but in the most romantic city in the world, these couples and moments stood out to me as being particularly interesting. Has a sporting event ever been so love-centric?:

  • The badminton medalists Huang Ya Qiong and Li Yuchen – were they Twin Flames? We don’t know, and that’s not for us to tell. What we do know is that they were very cute and endearing to the audience.
  • Hunter and Tara Woodhall – these two have been known for years on social media, especially how they support each in their growth and purpose, a very Twin Flame sign.
  • Married Olympic Fencers Manon Apithy-Brunet and Bolade Apithy admitted, “We are both on the same wavelength, it also provides daily support and motivation.” Sounds pretty Twin-Flamey to me!

Some Unions on TV series

The city of love shows up in another series depicting Twin Flame Unions- Emily in Paris. Young American marketing whiz Emily Cooper finds herself in the very different culture and romance of Paris. Like many Twin Flame journeys, she follows her life purpose and runs smack into her Twin – the gorgeous French chef Gabriel living in her apartment building. As she gets to know herself more, she sheds more and more resistance (and her Chicago ex, and her British soulmate Alfie) to finally be with the man of her dreams.

Fleabag is another epic Twin Flame journey following Phoebe Wallace-Bridge’s character through relationship after relationship until she faces her sadness over her mother and best friends’ deaths. As she deepens in all of the above, low and behold, she meets and falls in love with her Twin Flame. He teaches her about God and Love itself, and both lives are changed.

Outlander also depicts a Twin Flame Union of Claire and Jamie as they navigate time travel, warring clans and English hostility. (Viewer beware, though. This series doesn’t depict the reality-shifting that comes when someone makes a new choice at the core. These two lovers choose love every time, but the series doesn’t depict what happens when you do. Instead it keeps depicting fear and death choices in Claire and Jamie’s reality, which isn’t accurate!).
